Last Friday, Danner announced she is seeking another term.

Commission chairman Tom Mathers, whose second term expires in 2015, said he was happy to hear Danner is seeking re-election.  "Audreys good," Mathers said..........

Danner said continuing her efforts to bring high-speed, broadband Internet access to Moffat County is high on her to-do list for the coming year and, if re-elected, her next term.

"This is not about the government providing the service, but making a case to providers to bring the service to the people of Moffat County," Danner said. "I'm very much looking forward to continuing my work on broadband."

Rick Barnes, 45, a local rancher and former miner with Trapper Mine, Tuesday announced his bid Tuesday for the commission seat currently occupied by incumbent Republican Audrey Danner.

"I think the people need more choices," Barnes said. "I've been trying to get local matters fixed from the outside with no avail. I figure it will be a better outcome if I try to fix it from the inside out."

Barnes is the third District 2 candidate, joining Danner and Chuck Grobe, a former Hayden mayor.

Dave DeRose

DeRose began his announcement speech by asking the audience if they realized the Star Spangled Banner opens with a question.

"The reason that question is asked is I think everyone that authored our government knew the hardest thing to keep operating is a government of the people, by the people and for the people," DeRose said. "That government has to extend from city hall all the way to the White House."

In addition to owning Masterworks Mechanical, Inc., DeRose served 10 years on the Craig City Council, including three terms as mayor.

He said government is most efficient and effective when leaders treat it like a business.
